As its name suggests, Ville Saint-Jacques was a stopover on the road to Santiago de Compostela.
It is an old village which dates at least from 1288 when the name Ville Saint-Jacques was given to the borough.
The church, situated in the heart of the village, still features remains of 12th century architecture, while other buildings of major interest are also part of the historical and architectural heritage of Ville Saint-Jacques. The Knights Templar and the Knights Hospitaller of Saint John of Jerusalem, affluent families of the Middle Ages have, in turn, pulled down and rebuilt mansions and manor houses which give Ville Saint-Jacques its originality.
It has an indisputable character of which its inhabitants are proud and they are keen to share with you its secrets and history. Today, we can enjoy not only its architectural heritage but also the nature activities it has to offer with its pick-your-own farm “Aux Jardins de Noisy”.
Built on the site of an ancient manor-house, it features a 19th century dovecote.
